Between-the-lens Shutter
Between-the-lens Shutters are mechanical units that are integrated into the lens mount, between the two lens barrels.

Mechanical Copal between-the-lens shutters have to be set from the front of the camera, and they have to be closed before the dark slide is removed from a film holder. They also have to be cocked before each exposure. The fact that each shutter has certain individual tolerances can lead to differences in exposure times when lenses are changed.

This shutter is available in three sizes: 0, 1, and 3. The size required is depending on the design of the used lens. The available aperture is also depending on the used lens.

The minimum shutter speeds are:
Size 0:  1/400 sec.
Size 1:  1/250 sec.
Size 3:  1/125 sec.

For further information about the application of Copal between-the-lens shutters see also chapter "Sinaron Copal Lenses".
